M: The Irishman

If one lives in Michigan it is inevitable that one will hear stories and know a lot of conspiracy theories about the 1975 disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa. I also read a few books (including the one on which this particular Netflix film is based) and some articles about him and his case on the internet so I can say that I have an above average knowledge on the subject. Nevertheless, I went in to see the movie sans any expectations or particular notions about its merits and shortcomings and came out satisfied with the star-laden Scorsese-helmed film.  Just some stray thoughts: It also dawned on me that my favorite actors (De Niro, Pacino, Pesci et al) of my youth are now in the twilight of their lives and careers and I don’t know how much longer they’ll be around to make quality films like this one.
